Job Summary:

This position will focus on ensuring that ancillary quality measures are being adhered to, tracked and followed up on as indicated. This individual will lead critical ancillary projects to completion. This position will assist as directed with the management laboratory and medical X-Ray services operations.

Primary Responsibilities and Specific Duties:

  • Collaborates with the Ancillary Services Manager and leaders to identify objectives and strategies for quality performance improvement in care coordination, communications and management of patient care.
  • Responsible for participation of team members involving patient care and operational requirements.

Quality Functions:

  • Assist in providing ongoing training to team members of the center including care teams and operations teams as it relates to ancillary quality control measures or projects.
  • May participate as a CHC liaison with reference laboratory client representatives with the ancillary manager.
  • Assist with resolution of lab-related incident reports.
  • Responsible for monitoring patient notification and provider response of lab results for compliance

  • Coordinates and maintains in-house testing menu, including quality control guidelines with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and the Director of Nursing (CDON) approval.
  • Assists in the completion of the Lab and X-ray department monthly checklists.
  • Participates in leading infection control outbreaks and potential testing sites such as COVID testing sites.
  • Ensures tracking and follow up is performed on COVID appointments, lab results, and contact.
  • Ensure quality control and infection control measures are maintained with all functional task of a lab confirmed infectious disease such as COVID
  • Engage and secure employee and patient participation with quality assurance ancillary projects.
  • Works with leadership to develop skilled protocols as new equipment becomes available.
  • Monitors the use and stock of ancillary supplies on a quarter-to-quarter and week-to-week bases.
  • Assists with risk assessments that pertain to ancillary/x-ray or infection control.
  • Monitors and investigates known or suspected sources of infection
  • Manages and has oversight of the ancillary monthly checklist
  • Facilitates clinical and ancillary groups in forming plans of corrections and improvement processes for infection control and clinical care. Monitors for effectiveness.

  • Participates in-house clinical lab policy and quality control activities

Ancillary/X-ray Functions:

  • Will participate in the following laboratory functions (maintaining reference laboratory Compendiums, and eCW test menu
  • Assist in adding lab tests/charges/attributes as requested by lab staff/providers and approved by CMO
  • Participates in organizing training for lab staff and clinical staff (new hires and refreshers) and/or arrange for training by reference lab with the assistance of Laboratory Training Specialist
  • Specimen preparation
  • Lab requisition processing
  • In-house lab quality control, testing procedures & documentation
  • Assists in training providers on proper selection / orders of lab tests and profiles
  • Assists in monitoring interface functionality and that all tests received have results populated via the interface
  • Assists in addressing billing requests from Quest/LabCorp
  • Assists in maintaining ABN (advanced beneficiary notification) functionality
  • Assists with eCW lab manual training, in collaboration with the IS department, and Laboratory Training Specialist
  • Troubleshoot lab issues

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Completion of a clinical laboratory training program preferred
  • Earned an Associate Degree in clinical/medical technology from an accredited institution preferred

Experience:

  • 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • 2 years supervisory work experience in a health care setting preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience with quality control measures required.

Certification/Licensure:

  • BLS required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment

Special Skills:

  • Bilingual capability helpful
  • Must have good interpersonal skills
  • Must have flexibility and ability to manage multiple obligations and set priorities

Computer Skills:

  • Email, internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed.
