Job Summary:

Under the guidance of the Senior Medical Records Referral Service Manager, the Medical Records Referral Training Specialist, serves as the initial point-of-contact to provide training to the referral and document management team as well as other areas of the organization for both referrals and document management. Additionally, the Medical Records Referral Training Specialist will perform all aspects of document management and referral processing.

Primary Responsibilities and Specific Duties:

Training Duties

  • Provide on-boarding and training to new and existing referral and document management team members as well as students or interns.
  • Coordinate and administer training sessions for document management for groups including medical, dental, front desk, and administrative team members.
  • Assists in the development and review of both referral and document management technical competencies.
  • Trains and orients new providers to the referral process.
  • Functions as a superuser of electronic health record for referrals and document management.
  • Reviews, evaluates, tests, and trains new workflows related to electronic health record upgrades.
  • Participates in release notes meetings and communicates changes to workflows to the referral and document management team.
  • Creates and assists with the development and maintenance of training documents for referrals and document management.
  • Completes a minimum of 10 chart reviews of referral and document management team members prior to the completion of the 90-day onboarding period.

Additional Duties:

  • May assist in the review of applications and resumes and in the interview process of referral and document management team members.
  • Actively communicates with leaders including information regarding any proposed policy or procedural changes.
  • Attends committee meetings as indicated to include the monthly release notes or electronic health record upgrade meetings.
  • Proposes changes to departmental procedures based on changes to workflows.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required; some business classes, vocational/technical training preferred.

Experience:

  • 3 years' experience in a healthcare setting required.
  • 3 years' experience with electronic health records, preferably EClinicalWorks.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Must maintain a valid Florida Driver's license.

Special Skills:

  • Bilingual capability preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be flexible and able to manage multiple priorities.

Computer Skills:

  • E-mail, Internet, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Other requirements:

  • Able to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Required travel to all CHC Centers.
