Job Summary:
Pharmacist: Responsible for the full practice of pharmacy in accordance with applicable regulatory statues and accreditation standards; interpreting prescription orders, packaging, labeling, dispensing, administering and distribution of drugs and devices; accepts full responsibility as Pharmacist-in-Charge while on duty or as assigned as defined in Florida DPR Statute #465.018, and other requirements as defined in Statutes 465, 21s, 893, plus applicable DEA, and 340B requirements.
Administrator: Assists Director of Pharmacy in daily duties and assumes responsibility in his/her absence; assists with the administration of all CHC pharmacies to assure compliance with regulatory, accreditation and funding agencies and CHC policies and procedures; responsible for the oversight of purchases of all drugs, supplies and pharmaceuticals used in all pharmacy areas at all sites; oversees daily operations in pharmacy department; and serves as a subject matter expert for software programs used in the pharmacy.
Responsible for assisting Director of Pharmacy with completing all directives and compliance with all laws relevant to pharmacy practice (DEA, Board of Pharmacy); adapting and implementing policies and procedures to comply with changes in laws, accreditation standards (i.e., HRSA, 340B), in compliance with current legal requirements. The position requires extensive contact with team members in the pharmacy department and from various other departments and vendors. Responsible for supervisory duties, education, training, and motivation of individuals within the pharmacy department.
Primary Responsibilities and Specific Duties:
- Pharmacy
- Collaborates with providers on medication management.
- Ensures QRE's are properly reported.
- Participates in site meetings to address patient care and operational requirements, including one-on-one communication.
- Interprets, fills, and verifies prescriptions.
- Counsels patients on medication usage.
- Monitors drug therapy in conformance with OBRA Act.
- Performs medication review and recommends alternative therapies as appropriate.
- Responsible for medications received, drug storage, inventory control, pricing, and record maintenance.
- Properly handle and process expired and returned medications.
- Supervises staff and workflow processes.
- Maintains professional and business practice standards.
- Participates in center and provider meetings regarding pharmacy operations, updates, pricing changes, and drug availability.
- Administrative
- Supports Director of Pharmacy in responsibility for daily operations and administrative activities of pharmacy department, including MTM and/or other clinical quality pharmacy services.
- Supports Director of Pharmacy in maintaining responsibility for financial requirements of pharmacy, including purchasing, payroll, and capital improvements.
- Supports Director of Pharmacy in handling of pharmacy department reporting, auditing, regulatory and compliance requirements. Assists with 340B, HRSA, quality standards and related compliance and optimization strategies for the department and/or organization.
- Responsible for monitoring and improving population based and patient specific medication related outcomes through collaboration with the CHC providers.
- Monitors industry trends, anticipates implications and opportunities and collaborates with Director of Pharmacy, Pharmacists, Chief of Quality, Director of Clinical Quality Outcomes, CTS's and Patient Educators to develop, manage and communicate clinical quality initiatives including but not limited to HEDIS/Star program and other clinical quality pharmacy services and programs.
- Supports Director of Pharmacy with maintenance and oversight of pharmacy software systems, including pharmacy pricing, inventory, and billing systems.
- Assists with development and maintenance of pharmacy procedures, operational controls, and workflows to ensure quality and maximize pharmacy and organizational metrics.
- Participates routinely in pharmacy, center, provider and administrative meetings regarding pharmacy operations and updates as assigned.
- Assist with external vendor relationships and execution of necessary contracting requirements for PBM enrollment, software development and upgrades, and related tasks.
- Provide supervision and development of pharmacy staff.
- Review and approve travel expense reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.

Qualifications:
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years of outpatient pharmacy experience required.
- Minimum of three years of outpatient pharmacy supervisory experience required.
- Minimum of three years of outpatient pharmacy 340B, FQHC, and HRSA experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum of three years of Medication Therapy Management experience (or equivalent clinical quality pharmacy services) strongly preferred.
- Minimum of two years' experience working with Managed Care Organizations preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
- Current valid and Florida pharmacist license
- 340B University On-Demand certification within 90 days of hire required.
Other requirements:
- Able to work flexible hours as assigned.
- Reliable transportation and current Florida Driver's license is required.
- Able to work at all CHC locations, as assigned.
